Motorcycle and Medical Payments

2012/6/19 8:50:00
The beautiful weather brings out many motorcyclists.  There are several carriers that write Motorcycle Insurance for New Jersey and PennsylvaniaIn addition to choosing decent limit of liability insurance, you need to make sure that sure you select Medical Payments coverage for yourself (and passenger).  Depending on the carrier you can get a maximum limit of $10,000 or $25,000.  Many people are under the misunderstanding that the PIP portion of their personal automobile policy will cover their medical bills, but it will not - it is excluded.

You will also need to check with your health insurance carrier to see if your policy will cover your medical and rehabilitation bills in the event of an accident.  Some will provide coverage for your medical bills and rehab, some will provide for the medical bills only, and some will exclude any claim due to a motorcycle accident.  You may want to consider obtaining an accident policy to help pay for incidentals.

So, before your next ride please check out your coverage to make sure you are adequately protected in the event of an accident.  If your carrier does not offer medical payments coverage, contact Karl Weidel, Inc to get a quote with a company that does.
